Law & order being implemented for citizens' wellbeing: PM

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena engaged in a visit to Kandy, and even visited the Temple of the Tooth, for the first time after being appointed the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also made a note in the special commemorative book at Temple Trees.

In Kandy, the Prime Minister extended an invitation, stating that all should join hands to overcome the challenges which the country is facing now, and to make every effort to work hand in hand with the current Government.

When inquired about the possible formation of an all-party Government, the Prime Minister pointed out that President extended invitations to other parties several times, and in addition, he too announced it in the Parliament as the Prime Minister.

Moerover, Prime Minister Gunawardena said that President is currently working on sending an official invitation to the other parties to discuss the formation of an all-party Government on 03rd of August. 

It will also be announced during the opening session of the Parliament the next time, he added.

The Prime Minister, commenting on the Emergency Law imposed in the country and the said law discouraging international aid, said that he too is meeting many Ambassadors these days, who have assured support to Sri Lanka and the Government.

The Prime Minister urged the public to understand that the implementation of law and order in the country is for the benefit of all citizens.

Moreover, Prime Minister Gunawardena pointed out that citizens have the opportunity to visit other countries. He further stated that he does not believe that the power enshrined in the Courts have been taken away.

"Anyone can go to court. Everyone has to bow the judgements of the Court, even the Government did, do not forget that. Therefore, the independence of the judiciary is respected. Every citizen has the right to go to court and to join any organization," he added.
